What time should an anniversary cruise start?
Time it backwards from sunset (varies by season). We recommend boarding 60-90 minutes before sunset so you’re on the water for the build-up, the golden hour, and the lights coming on.
Can we have just the two of us on board?
Yes — most popular anniversary format. Boat hired privately, just you and the crew. Crew typically stay forward and let you have the back deck or saloon.
Can we BYO drinks?
Yes on almost every boat. Bring Champagne, your wedding wine, whatever the bottle is. Crew handles ice and glassware.
Can we have a celebrant for vow renewal?
Yes — we have a list of celebrants who regularly work on Sydney Harbour boats. They typically do a 15-20 minute ceremony mid-cruise. Tell us in the enquiry.
Can we bring a photographer?
Yes — many anniversary couples bring a photographer for milestone anniversaries (10th, 25th, 50th). We can recommend photographers who specialise in on-water shoots.
Can the boat take us past somewhere meaningful?
Yes — captains regularly cruise past wedding venues, proposal locations, or the spot you first met. Tell us in the enquiry and we’ll brief the captain.
What if it rains?
Most motoryachts have enclosed climate-controlled saloons. A wet-weather anniversary still works — the harbour at dusk in light rain is its own kind of beautiful. Each operator has a wet-weather policy in the quote.
Where does the boat depart from?
Pickup wharves vary by boat. Rose Bay and King Street Wharf are the most common — central, easy parking. Most boats can reposition to any major harbour wharf with a small repositioning fee.
