How discreet is the captain?
Very. Most of our captains have done dozens of these. They stay out of sight for the moment, time the boat’s position so you’re in the perfect light, and step in only if you need them.
Can a photographer come on board?
Yes — we coordinate with our partner photographers. They board with you (introduced as a friend or just quiet), capture the proposal from a discreet angle, then do a post-yes photoshoot at golden hour. Usually +$800-1,200 to the package.
Can family members be hidden on board?
Yes — this is one of our most-booked proposal formats. Family boards before you, stays hidden in the saloon during the proposal, then emerges to celebrate.
What time is the best for a proposal cruise?
We work it backwards from sunset. Boarding 60-90 minutes before sunset puts you in the perfect light for the moment, plus 30 minutes after for post-yes photos.
Can we keep it a surprise?
Yes — we’ve coordinated dozens of surprise proposals. We communicate with you only (not your partner), confirm timing via your preferred channel, and the captain plays along on the day.
Do you provide the ring? Champagne? Setup?
Champagne yes (we recommend a specific bottle pre-chilled and ready). Ring is on you. Setup (rose petals, decorations, music) — we can arrange but most couples prefer to keep it simple. We can talk you through what works.
What if it rains on the day?
Honestly, this is the only event type where we’d recommend rescheduling if there’s rain forecast. Each operator has a wet-weather reschedule policy — we always flag for proposal cruises so you have the option to move it without losing money.
Where does a proposal cruise depart from?
Pickup wharves vary by boat. Rose Bay and Sydney Marina are the most common — central, walkable, easy to arrive discreetly. Tell us your preferred wharf.
