Daytime sunshine on Sydney Harbour. BBQ, picnic, plated — your boat, your menu. From $300/hr, 3-hour minimum.

🌞 Daytime cruising 👥 8–150 guests ⏱ 3–4hr typical 💰 From $300/hr
⭐ Trusted by 970+ Sydney events · 137 vessels in our fleet · No booking fees · Honest pricing

A Sydney Harbour lunch cruise is the most relaxed format we book. Daytime light, swim stops at Store Beach or Shark Island, BBQ smoke drifting off the back deck, kids on the front nets, drinks in the saloon. Most lunch cruises run 3-4 hours over the middle of the day.

From a $300/hr 3-hour BBQ on a 33-foot sailing catamaran for 14 guests, to a $1,500/hr plated lunch on a 100-foot superyacht for 40 — Boatique books the full Sydney Harbour fleet. Quotes back in under an hour.

Find Your Perfect Boat

Lunch cruises work on most boats, but the best ones have open decks for the BBQ vibe or a proper saloon for plated meals. We’ll match you to a boat based on guest count, vibe, and whether you want swim stops.

Send your date and guest count — we’ll shortlist 3 boats with reasons.

Lunch setup on a Sydney Harbour Axopar charter boat

Why a private lunch cruise (instead of a ticketed harbour tour)

Daytime energy

Sunshine, swimming, photos against the Bridge in golden midday light. Different feeling from an evening cruise — better for families and kids.

🍔 BBQ on the back deck

Most function and luxury boats have a built-in BBQ. We’ll either set you up to grill your own, or arrange a partner caterer to do the cooking.

🏊 Swim stops included

Add a 30-45 minute anchor stop at Store Beach, Shark Island, Castle Rock or Cabarita. Captain will recommend based on the wind and tide.

🥪 Family-friendly format

Casual atmosphere, easy to bring kids, no pressure to dress up. Birthday lunches, christenings, retirement parties — all work great as lunch cruises.

How lunch cruise catering works

Three approaches — all priced separately from boat hire. The honest pricing answer: a 4-hour BBQ lunch cruise for 16 guests on a sailing catamaran usually lands around $2,200–2,800 all-in with a self-served BBQ.

Send us your date and guest count and we’ll send a fixed quote, usually within the hour.

BBQ lunch setup on a Sydney Harbour charter boat

BYO + BBQ on board

From $0 catering · BYO drinks

You bring meat, salads, drinks. Crew lights the BBQ and helps with serving. Most economical option — works perfectly for 10-20 guests.

Plated lunch

From $85pp

Sit-down meal in the saloon (for boats with proper dining areas). Good for slower-paced family lunches, christenings, milestone birthdays.

Frequently asked questions

What time does a lunch cruise start?

11am or noon is typical. 3-4 hour run takes you through to mid-afternoon — perfect for a relaxed family lunch with swim stop.

Can we BBQ on board?

Yes on most function and luxury boats — they have built-in BBQs. We’ll match you to a boat that has one if BBQ is important to your day.

Can the kids swim?

Yes — most lunch cruises include a 30-45 minute anchor stop at a swim spot. Store Beach (Manly side), Shark Island, Castle Rock and Cabarita are the most popular. Bring towels.

Do you provide the catering?

Three options — BYO (you bring everything), our partner caterers provide a BBQ or buffet, or full plated by a chef. We’ll send pricing for each option in the quote.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes on most boats. Most lunch cruises are BYO drinks. A handful of operators have catering-required rules — we’ll flag if so.

What’s the minimum number of guests?

No minimum — 6 guests on a small catamaran is fine. The per-person cost climbs at very small group sizes because you’re paying for the whole boat.

Can we cruise to Manly or Watson’s Bay?

Yes — many lunch cruises include an anchor stop at Store Beach (just past Manly) or a slow cruise to Watson’s Bay for lunch at Doyle’s if you want a land-based stop.

What if it rains?

Most function and luxury boats have enclosed saloons with climate control, so light rain is fine. Each operator has a wet-weather policy — refund, reschedule or sail anyway. We’ll send the specific policy with your quote.
