How a small-boat Christmas party works

Book early, bring the prawns.

1

Pick a December date

Weekdays in December are the easy win: the harbour is quiet, the water is warm and the boats are available. Weekends book out weeks ahead.

2

Board with the food

Everything is BYO with no restrictions for guests. Frankie’s BBQ takes care of lunch; Coral and Marlow have tables for platters. The driver stays under 0.05.

3

Anchor for the afternoon

Chinamans Beach, Rose Bay or Shark Island. Swim, eat, do the Secret Santa on the deck, and be back at the wharf by four.

Why a small boat beats a Christmas function

For teams under ten, the numbers are one-sided.

A crewed Christmas cruise on Sydney Harbour starts around $2,000 and needs a minimum headcount. Frankie is $650 for a half day, BBQ included, for ten people — and you choose the menu. If the team is bigger than ten, or you want it catered and skippered, see Christmas party boat hire for the crewed boats.

Two teams? Book Marlow and Frankie together from Double Bay — eighteen people, one wharf, one lunch stop. Or two Corals from The Spit for twelve.

Dates that work

Read this before you pick a Saturday.

December Saturdays sell out first, then Fridays. If the party can be a weekday — and most work parties can — you will have your pick of boats and start times right up to Christmas week. Public holidays carry a surcharge and the exact price appears the moment you choose a date.

For a family Christmas, Boxing Day and the days between Christmas and New Year are some of the best days of the year on the harbour: warm, quiet, and everyone is off.

Frequently Asked Questions

➤ Do we need a licence?

No. Coral, Marlow and Frankie are all no-licence boats. The driver gets a briefing and a test drive at the wharf and we’re on the phone throughout.

➤ Can we drink on board?

Yes, BYO with no restrictions for guests. The driver stays under 0.05, as in a car.

➤ Is there a BBQ?

Frankie has a BBQ, gas and an esky on board. Coral and Marlow have tables for platters and picnic food.

➤ Can the company pay by invoice?

Yes — book online or call and we’ll invoice. Full payment secures the date.

➤ What if it’s raining?

Unsafe conditions mean we move the date or credit you. A warm overcast December day is still a good one on the water.

Ready to book?

December weekends go first. Pick the date and the price appears instantly.
