What’s the minimum age for guests on board?
All ages welcome. Most 21sts are 18+ guest lists, but bringing younger family is fine — just flag in the quote so we can match boats with appropriate safety gear.
Can we BYO alcohol for a 21st?
Yes on almost every boat. RSA-compliant — most operators have a no-shots rule and reserve the right to slow service if someone’s too drunk. Standard stuff.
Can we have a DJ?
Yes — bring a friend with a laptop and Bluetooth in, or hire a pro DJ ($400-800 for the night). Most function vessels have proper sound systems and DJ booths.
What’s the minimum number of guests?
No minimum. Intimate 21sts for 8-10 close friends on a sailing catamaran are a great format too.
Can we decorate the boat?
Yes — balloons, banners, photo walls, table centrepieces all fine. Some boats restrict things that cause mess (confetti, glitter, sparklers). We’ll flag restrictions.
What time should a 21st start?
Late afternoon (4-5pm) for sunset photos, finishing 8-10pm. Some run 7pm to 11pm for full-evening party mode. Mid-week is quieter and cheaper.
Where do most 21sts depart from?
King Street Wharf is the most common for 21sts — central, easy parking, walkable from Pyrmont and the city. Rose Bay works well too if guests are eastern suburbs based.
What if it rains?
Most boats have enclosed climate-controlled saloons. Each operator has a wet-weather policy — refund, reschedule, sail anyway. We’ll send the specific policy in the quote.
