The harbour at its best. Your own boat, your group, sunset over the Opera House. From $250/hr, 2-hour minimum.
There’s about 90 minutes a day when Sydney Harbour looks unreal — the Bridge silhouetted, the Opera House catching golden light, the water turning copper. A private sunset cruise lets you have that whole window on your own boat, with whoever you want on board.
From a 2-hour BYO sail on a 33-foot catamaran for 6 friends at $250/hr, to a 4-hour sunset-to-evening loop on a luxury motoryacht for 30 with chef catering — Boatique books the full Sydney Harbour fleet. Quotes back in under an hour.
Sunset cruises are all about the view, so vessel choice matters. We’ll match you to boats with open-air upper decks, the right capacity, and pickup points that maximise your sunset window.
Send your date and guest count — we’ll shortlist 3 boats with reasons.

One group on board. No 200-seat tour, no shared seating, no fixed photo stops.
Most charter boats time the cruise to put you in the prime sunset position. Tell your captain the photo you want — they’ll get you there.
Champagne + canapés works perfectly for a 2-3 hour sunset slot. We can also arrange a full chef-plated dinner if you want to roll the cruise on.
Open decks, the right lighting, fewer guests — easy to bring a photographer on board, or just let the captain double as one (most are happy to).
Sunset cruises usually run 2-4 hours (2-hour minimum on most boats), so the total price stays lower than a full evening dinner cruise. The honest pricing answer: a 2-hour sunset cruise for 8 guests on a sailing catamaran with BYO Champagne usually lands around $700–950 all-in.
Send us your date and guest count — we’ll match boats and send a fixed quote, usually within the hour.
Bring your own drinks and snacks — crew sets up, clears down. Lowest cost — perfect for a 2-hour BYO Champagne sunset with 6–10 guests.
Cheese boards, finger food, antipasto. Right-sized for a 2-3 hour cruise where the focus is the view, not a full meal.
Roll the sunset into a full evening dinner cruise. Chef plates on board. Best for milestone occasions like proposals, anniversaries, big birthdays.

More on the water: Sydney Harbour cruises, what to wear in winter and cruise ship layover hire.
We work it backwards from the day’s sunset time (varies by season). Generally we recommend boarding 60–90 minutes before sunset so you’re on the water for the build-up, the golden window, and 30 minutes after.
2 hours is the minimum on most boats. 3 hours is the sweet spot for a sunset + first-of-evening photos. 4+ hours if you want to roll into a full dinner cruise.
On most boats yes. Sunset cruise + BYO Champagne is one of the most popular combinations. A few operators have catering-required rules — we flag those at quote time.
Year-round actually works. Summer (Nov-Feb) gives later sunsets (~7:30-8pm) and warmer evenings. Autumn and Spring give the most dramatic sky colours. Winter has the earliest sunsets (~5pm) but often the clearest air.
Yes — see our dedicated proposal cruise page, or just mention in your enquiry. We coordinate boat, captain timing, champagne, and (if you want) a discreet photographer.
Most captains are happy to grab a few shots when there’s a natural pause. For a milestone occasion we recommend bringing a friend with a camera or arranging a pro photographer.
Honestly, some of the most dramatic sunsets we’ve seen are partly cloudy. The captain will message you on the morning of if conditions are unusual. Each operator has a wet-weather/no-sunset policy in case of rain (refund, reschedule, or sail anyway).
Pickup wharves vary by boat. Most can pick up from any major Sydney Harbour wharf — Rose Bay, Watson’s Bay, King Street, Pyrmont, Balmoral — with a small repositioning fee. Tell us your preferred pickup point.
