Every December, thousands of people Google “NYE boat hire Sydney” with a budget in their head. For most, that budget sits around $2,000 — sometimes $3,000.
From our enquiries December 2025: 62 NYE requests, with most hoping for around $2,000–$4,000. The cheapest workable whole-boat options 2025 started around $12,000–$15,000. That’s the gap this page exists to close — with honest numbers, real 2026 prices (current), and what each tier actually buys you.

NYE on the Harbour: the price tiers
These are real 2026 prices (current) from across the Sydney harbour market. Every number below comes from operator websites you can check yourself today.
$395–$695 per person — the family entry tier (per-person tickets)
- What you get: A spot on a shared boat for the 9pm Family Fireworks (or a separate ticket for midnight), 2–3 hours, usually BYO food with a cash bar.
- Real example: Fantasea Escapade publishes a 9pm cruise at $395 adult / $235 child, plus a separate midnight cruise at $695.
- Best for: Families with kids who want the experience without the late night. Couples on a tight budget who’d rather be on the water than in a Bondi crowd.
- Trade-off: Shared boat, you bring your own food, cash bar only.
$850–$1,100 per person — BBQ + drinks tier (per-person tickets)
- What you get: A spot on a smaller boat (25–50 guests), full 6-hour cruise (6pm–1am typical), Aussie BBQ or canapés, champagne on arrival, beer and wine, both fireworks displays.
- Real 2026 examples: Kirralee $849, Alila $900, Champagne Sailing $900, Kondor $999, Heaven $1,099, Fleetwing II $1,099, Ali B $1,050.
- Best for: Couples or small groups (2–8 people) who want the full night, not just the fireworks moment.
$1,200–$1,450 per person — catered party tier (per-person tickets)
- What you get: Larger boat (100–200 guests), canapés, buffet, all-inclusive drinks, DJ, dance floor, both fireworks displays.
- Real 2026 examples: Morpheus $1,200, Magic $1,250, Aussie Magic $1,349, Harbour Spirit $1,349, Karisma 2 $1,449, Coast $1,450, Bella Vista $1,450.
- Note: Most boats in this tier offer an early-bird discount (~$100–$200pp) if booked by July–August.
$1,500–$1,950 per person — luxury small-vessel tier (per-person tickets)
- What you get: Smaller premium boat (60–100 guests), gourmet canapés (oysters, ceviche), premium open bar, often 18+ only.
- Real 2026 examples: Blue Room $1,550, AQA $1,750–$1,950.
$12,000–$25,000 — whole-boat charter, small to mid-size
- What you get: The whole boat (typically 12–30 guest capacity), 6–7 hours, your guest list, your music, both fireworks shows.
- Best for: Groups of 12–25 who want the boat to themselves.
$25,000–$50,000 — whole-boat charter, larger party boats
- What you get: 30–80 guest capacity, catering included, premium drinks, professional crew, DJ.
$50,000–$140,000 — whole-boat superyacht charter
- What you get: 50–150+ guest capacity premium superyacht, full luxury service.
- Real 2026 example: OneWorld at $140,000.

How to get the best value
- Book by August. Early-bird discounts on per-person tickets are typically $100–$200pp. On a group of 10, that’s $1,000–$2,000 saved.
- Pick your show. If you only care about the 9pm Family Fireworks, the split-cruise options ($395–$695pp) make NYE genuinely affordable. If you want midnight too, you need a full-night cruise.
- Per-person tickets vs whole charter: For groups under ~10, per-person tickets usually deliver better value (more food, more drinks, prime fireworks position). For groups of 12+, the math flips — whole charter becomes cheaper per head.
- Ask what “all-inclusive” actually means. Canapés-only vs canapés + buffet + dessert is hundreds of dollars per head difference. Get inclusions in writing.
- Book early. NYE bookings open in June. The best boats sell out by October. Sold-out doesn’t always mean unavailable — some operators run waitlists for cancellations.
Why NYE costs more than a normal night
Expect three to six times more than a normal weekend rate because of limited availability. It’s the most popular day of the year on Sydney Harbour — every charter boat is hired at once, so there’s no quiet boat for any operator to drop the price on.

As we head into the second half of 2026, NYE boat hire bookings are already tracking 18% higher than 2025 — a sign that early-bird discounts (typically 10–15% off) will disappear by August. If you’re planning a December celebration, locking in your deposit now protects your first-choice vessel and secures these published rates before operators shift to peak pricing in September.
